Café au lait with THE COMPANION OF HIS FUTURE LIFE Author Jack Caldwell

Image
Good morning, dear readers!   First of all, allow me to apologize for the "Content Warning" - I assure you it has aught to do with my guest for Coffee this morning! I felt obligated to add it because of  "My Sexy Saturday" last week with an  excerpt from Alicia's Possession , which as the name implies IS sexy . So if you're cool with that but want to be heated up, you can check it out. Today, I am absolutely thrilled to introduce one of my fellow Austen Variations Authors as well as a displaced Louisianian and New Orleans Saints devotee (we'll ignore that he occasionally has the poor taste to pull for Green Bay), Jack Caldwell! That's right: It's a man , baby! His motto is "It takes a real man to write historical romance;" and he is a wonderful writer of Austen-inspired fiction, including his latest release, The Companion of His Future Life . Once you have had a taste of THIS re-imagining - oh boy! - I know you are going to want

Alicia's Possession and How to Feel Sexy...

Image
Gentle Readers, I am back again this week with my THIRD  "My Sexy Saturday" ! With this blog hop, authors share a sexy snippet of 7 words, 7 sentences, or 7 paragraphs from one of their books or a work in progress. The theme this week: Feeling Sexy "We love the stories where the characters are confident in their sexuality. We love those stories where one of those characters has to teach the other that they really are sexy. We love it every time when they get together and show us just how sexy they feel. Share them with us this week!" So today, as with last week , I have an excerpt from the Romantic Suspense Alicia's Possession , which has BOTH such characters. Alicia's ex-husband John was, as one reader put it, a "douche." He betrayed her, not only breaking her heart but stealing her self-confidence as well. She thinks that, because he wanted someone else, there must be something wrong with her . After all, she wasn't sexy enough f

HELP! Having Cocktails with Sex Therapist Dr Charley - What Should We Talk About?

Image
Greetings, dear readers!   For whatever reason, Dr. Charley Ferrer has asked me BACK on her talk show, even after my second disastrous performance on January 20th. (If you missed the chat live, you can listen to the recording ; but allow me to apologize in advance: I think I had had one or two (or twelve) cocktails too many, so I sound like an idiot.  An INSANE idiot, but an idiot nevertheless. In short, I was what my daughter would describe as a "hot mess."  BE WARNED: is definitely for ADULTS ONLY, a no-holds-barred frank discussion about sex , answering some of the questions my readers had submitted...and other topics as well....Doctor Charley is known as "America’s BDSM Expert," so we devoted most of the show to that topic. My first discussion with her on Cocktails with Colette did not fare much better. (If you missed that chat, here is the link: http://bdsmwriterscon.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Everything-you-want-to-know-about-SEX-but-feared-Ta

It Was 50 Years Ago Today ~ JFK, The Beatles, and Me

Image
Originally published for Austen Authors as "I Read the News Today, Oh Boy" You might not have realized it since we kept it rather low-key, but last year was the 200th Anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice . I'm kidding, of course, since we Austen Authors commemorated it throughout the year with our P&P 200 series (and now we have it collected in our special tribute Pride & Prejudice:The Scenes Jane Austen Didn't Write ). I even had a cake and champagne on the anniversary date of publication! (Of course, I will use any excuse for cake and champagne...) As years pass, human nature tends to place more significance on anniversaries that represent some sort of milestone. I doubt anyone had cake and champagne for the 199th Anniversary of Pride and Prejudice . Even in marriage, the first anniversary has that ripple of excitement lacking in the 2nd and 3rd and on and on. Most people I know even freeze the top layer of their wedding cake to eat

Come Undone Sexy ~ My Sexy Saturday

Image
Gentle Readers, First, I would like to invite you to come back here on Sunday, February 9th, for my special blogpost tribute to John Lennon and the Beatles on the 50th anniversary of their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show . I hope you'll enjoy it! Now last week I posted in my very first  "My Sexy Saturday" blog hop with a spicy excerpt from Pulse and Prejudice . With this blog hop, authors share a sexy snippet of 7 words, 7 sentences, or 7 paragraphs from one of their books or a work in progress. The theme this week: ~COME UNDONE ~                     (And I've added a little music for you to go with the theme...sorry, music only works on PC) Characters who just couldn’t wait to be all over each other, no matter what the circumstances. This perfectly describes the passion between the hero and heroine in Alicia's Possession , who cannot resist their magnetic attraction despite their lack of trust. Alicia is the last person Detective Mason Crawley

WITHOUT A TRACE Author Laure White Comes for Coffee

Image
Good morning, dear readers!   Hey - How 'bout those Bronc-oh...never mind. That didn't turn out the way I had hoped (sorry, Seattle fans, but I had to pull for our local boy). Personally, I blame the Groundhog! I should have avoided the game in favour of writing. I did get in about 3000 words on my WIP (work in progress), but my major accomplishment this weekend was organizing my scarves! I also joined in the blog hop "My Sexy Saturday" for the first time with 7 sizzling sentences from Pulse and Prejudice , so be sure to check that out if you missed it. (Be warned: The ARE sexy sentences.) Now - Guess who is back joining me for Coffee this morning! Fellow Secret Cravings author Laurie White is here to visit and talk about her latest release, the Romantic Suspense Without a Trace! Laurie joined us a year ago to introduce Twist of Fate , and after discovering that sweet and sexy romance, I couldn't wait to get my hands on her new novel. After you read this e

You’re Sexy To Me ~ My Sexy Saturday

Image
Gentle Readers, Last week I posted a blog, or blogged a post, or whatever, about how difficult it is for me to come up with blog topics ( What Can I Say? ). Well, lo and behold, Friday I found out about the "My Sexy Saturday" blog hop! With this blog hop, authors share a sexy snippet of 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from one of their books or a work in progress. Evidently, this has been going on for 33 weeks, but I just found out about it! (Probably a good thing since, with my soul-sucking day job, author events, and having only 20 days to move, I most likely would have missed about 20 of them.) The theme this week: Characters who don't believe they will ever find anyone to love. "This week we’re talking about those broken heroes and heroines who think they have nothing left to give to another person. They’ve stopped looking for their soul mates or don’t believe they even have one. They are truly surprised when someone falls for them." This is
